How much PRIDE is too much??

"Pride is the devil," is a famous line from J. Cole's 2021, "The Off-Season" album.

I'm also familiar with the Bible scripture, "Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. God is not out to hurt your pride he is out to kill your pride." (Proverbs 16:18)

I have lost countless valuable relationships, (both personal & professional), in the past because I allowed my ego & my pride to get in the way.

Apologizing and taking accountability for my stubbornness and my actions is not always easy!

Looking back over my life, I didn't necessarily always understand the concept of having my ego & pride in check!

Now, with years of experience, grace, and wisdom; I understand exactly why it's so important to "check myself" before attempting to "check" anyone else!

Self accountability & self reflection allows us to thoroughly examine our own personal flaws in a way that we normally wouldn't be able to.

Having pride is absolutely okay! However, having too much pride is an issue!

There is nothing wrong with apologizing when you've wronged someone!

There is nothing wrong with asking someone for help when you need it!

There is nothing wrong with seeking self growth; perfection is unrealistic!

In short, when we allow our pride and ego to rule us we miss out on incredible opportunities & amazing people.

Pride is shame-driven! It literally prevents us from being able to acknowledge our human vulnerabilities.

In short, I think that there is a distinct difference in GOOD PRIDE vs. BAD PRIDE!

Make sure that the PRIDE that you possess is HELPING you instead of hindering you! :)
