Sunshine & RAIN

I made a Facebook status earlier today about how much more I enjoy the rain now that I am older.

...As weird as it sounds, it is true!

As a child, and even as young adult; the rain was equivalent to "dampened" days and cancelled plans.

But now, I see the rain as a chance for me to slow down and really be present in the moment!

I enjoy staying home, getting things done, reading, napping and just enjoying my space overall.

And even when I am "out & about," in the rain...it just has a certain calmness that I have grown to love.

I used to feel like I had to constantly be doing SOMETHING!

(SUN'S OUT, FUN'S OUT!) :)

I later learned that the need to be busied all the time stems from one's own lack of self-worth! Thus, the busier I felt the more important and needed I felt!

Now don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with taking care of others and the things around us!

But we must not forget to "slow down," & take care of ourselves, too!

In this season of life, I feel liberated and satisfied after a full day of accomplishing tasks.

On the other hand, I am also completely content with RESTING and sometimes..even doing absolutely NOTHING at all!

BALANCE.....

Balance, has always been a struggle for me! But I am elated to say that I have gotten better at it!

The rain helps me maintain my balance in life, so to speak.

Rain reminds me that the sun doesn't shine all the time and quite honestly, that is okay!

A long time ago I read somewhere: " All sunshine and no rain makes a desert."

It's taken me 32 years to learn to "dance in the rain" and it's not so bad after all!
